Beliefs

We believe the Bible to be verbally inspired by God in its original writings, that it is truth without any mixture of error, and is the sole rule of faith and practice for believers. We believe that God has supernaturally preserved His Word for us today. (II Timothy 3:16; I Corinthians 2:13, II Peter 1:20, 21)

We believe there is only one true God, coexisting in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are coeternal and coequal for all eternity, each with distinct personalities, but all of one essence. (Genesis 1:26, Matthew 3:16-17; II Corinthians 13:14; I Peter 1:2; John 1:1-3, 14; I Corinthians 3:16)

We believe that Adam was created in holiness in the image of God, but, by voluntary transgression, fell, and thus the whole race is now sinful by nature and practice, and is therefore under just condemnation to eternal separation from God. (Genesis 1:26; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 5:12; Romans 6:23)

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who entered into the world through the virgin birth, and lived among us without sin as perfect man and perfect God. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 4:15)

We believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood on Calvary as a vicarious substitute for all sinners and that He was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the right hand of the Father, whence He will personally return to rapture His Church before the seven years of Great Tribulation followed by His pre-millennial return to earth to establish His Kingdom according to the Scriptures. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 10:10,12; Matthew 28:5,6; I Corinthians 15:3,4; Acts 1:9)

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts sinners. He regenerates, sanctifies, indwells, and fills the believer for effective service. (John 16:8; Titus 3:5; I Peter 1:2; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:18-19)

We believe that men are born again by the Holy Spirit as they repent and believe the gospel message. We believe that we are justified by grace through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ without any mixture of works. (Hebrews 10:14.15; Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 10:9,13)

We believe in the priesthood of the believer and that God has made provision for each believer to be victorious by being led of the Spirit and not walking after the flesh. (Hebrews 10:19-22; Romans 8:1,4,14,16)

We believe in the eternal security of the believer and that he is guaranteed eternal life and a resurrected glorified body at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (John 3:16; I Thessalonians 4:16,17; Romans 6:23)

We believe that a New Testament Church is an autonomous local group of believers, baptized by immersion, and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission. We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper constitute the only two ordinances of the church. Matthew 28:19,20; Romans 6:4; I Corinthians 11:23-30; Matthew 26:26-29). We believe all true believers will be taken up at the rapture, prior to the tribulation ( Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 1:15, 2:41-43, 11:!5, 10:28; I Corinthians 15:51-58; Ephesians 1:12-14, 5:25-30; I Thessalonians 4:!3-18; I Timothy 3:2-15).

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost–the saved unto the resurrection of life eternal, and the lost unto the resurrection of eternal damnation. When the saved die, they are immediately in the presence of the Lord. (I Thessalonians 4:13-17; Revelation 20:15)

We believe that Satan is a person and that Hell is a place of eternal conscious punishment for him, his hosts, and all unbelievers. (I Peter 5:8; Revelation 20:15; Revelation 19:20)

We believe that churches are mandated by Scripture to abstain from all forms of compromise with unbelief. We believe that believers are commanded to fellowship only with those churches which follow scriptural methods. (Philippians 2:15, I John 2:15-17; II Corinthians 6:17)

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and sufficient for ministry use until Jesus comes. It declares itself to be the message of God and sets forth the principle that this message is to be interpreted as literally as possible within its historical and cultural background. We believe that we must follow the Scriptures and not emotions, avoiding the faddist and cultist deviation of our day, including the so-called Charismatic Movement. (Revelation 22:18,19; II Timothy 3:16,17; Hebrews 4:12)

We believe that God Created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. We reject evolution, the gap theory, the day-age theory, theistic evolution, and intelligent design not attributed to God as unscriptural theories of origin (Genesis 1-1; Exodus 20:11)

Human Sexuality: We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. (Genesis 2:24, 19:5, 13, 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1, 6:9, I Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4)

We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; Romans 7:2; I Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23).

The Bible itself is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice of what we believe. The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. We do believe, however, that the foregoing Statement of Faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible and, therefore, is binding on all members.
